NRC Calculator 1.0.6

The NRC Calculator provides an analytical tool for estimating the energy and protein allowances for daily gain in dairy calves, based on user-supplied input data. Users can enter details such as the volume of whole milk and/or milk replacer fed, the solids content of these liquids, as well as their respective protein, fat, moisture, and ash contents. Additionally, it considers starter grain intake and its nutritional composition, along with calf body weight and ambient temperature conditions.

The calculator accommodates various feeding regimens, allowing analysis of whole milk, milk replacer, or a combination thereof. It offers the capability to compare two dietary strategies side-by-side on a single interface, facilitating an informed evaluation of constraints affecting potential calf growth. Outputs include estimates of energy-allowable average daily gain and protein-allowable average daily gain for each diet scenario, assisting in identifying limiting factors to growth.

Measurements can be displayed in either metric or imperial units. The interface supports multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, and Japanese. The application is freely accessible worldwide across numerous platforms.

All underlying calculations stem from the guidelines established in the "Nutrient Requirements of Dairy Cattle," Seventh Revised Edition (2001), issued by the NRC's subcommittee on Dairy Cattle Nutrition.
